The Department of Psychiatry in Inha University Hospital is committed to providing the best clinical service, excellent training and education, and conducting cutting-edge scientific research. The Department is staffed by highly competent faculty members, clinical fellows, residents, nursing staff, psychologists, social workers, and full-time researchers. We provide both inpatient and outpatient services for psychiatric patients with schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression, anxiety disorders, personality disorders, dementia, sleep disorders, stress-related disorders, child and adolescence psychiatric disorder and other major or minor psychiatric disorders. The Department has a full range of clinical programs for mental disorders, including 27 beds for inpatient clinics, runs 2 psychiatric wards (1 open and 1 closed ward), and offers emergency and crisis intervention programs, as well as specialized outpatients services and excellent treatment programs through the Schizophrenia Clinic, Mood Disorders Clinic, Geriatric Psychiatric Clinics, Child and Adolescence Psychiatric Clinics. Our department, equipped with latest instruments of checking brain functions such as MRI, PET, EEG, performs medical treatment services by using advanced medical techniques like transcranial magnetic stimulation, electroconvulsive therapy and light therapy together with latest chemical therapies in order to make more accurate diagnosis of diseases. Moreover, as one of the leading teaching hospitals in Korea, we provide comprehensive education and training for psychiatric residents, medical students, clinical and research fellows, clinical psychologists, and social workers. For the Department’s research efforts, the corpus of knowledge have been advanced in neurochemistry, genetics, psychopharmacology, brain imaging, brain stimulation, cognitive neuroscience, as well as in cognitive behavior therapy. Currently, the Department serves as a leading center for research, teaching, and clinical practice in most areas of psychiatry.
